Cyber security is an operational necessity and a regulatory obligation for many companies today. NIS-2 obliges companies in relevant sectors to implement technical and organisational security measures, to conduct regular risk analyses and to report security incidents. The NIS-2 Implementation Act has been in force in Germany since 6 December 2025 for companies with 50 or more employees or an annual turnover of 10 million euros in relevant sectors. DORA sets comparable requirements for financial companies and their ICT service providers and has been mandatory since January 2025. TISAX demands demonstrable information security management from automotive suppliers. Operators of critical infrastructures are additionally subject to the requirements of the KRITIS umbrella act.
