This training is aimed at advanced Selenium users who want to parallelize test execution using a Selenium Grid and connect to existing CI/CD tools such as Jenkins. After completing the advanced training, participants will be able to understand the basics of the build management tool Maven, execute tests with it and operate with environment variables. In addition, they will be able to set up the infrastructure of a Selenium Grid independently and optionally using container virtualization. You will understand how CI/CD pipelines work using a Jenkins server and learn how to integrate your Selenium tests there in a meaningful way.

Fundamentals

• Repetition of the most important concepts from the basic training (Selenium, TestNG, Maven and Git)

Build management with Maven

• Theoretical basics about the purposes, phases and goals of build management with Maven
• Practical knowledge about the structure and targeted manipulation of the project object model
• Management of dependencies, plugins and environment variables

Selenium grid architecture

• Parallel test execution with Selenium Grid
• Setting up a Selenium Hub and two Selenium Servers for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox
• Implementation and scaling using container virtualization (e.g. with Docker)
• Extension of the Selenium test cases to the required RemoteWebDriver and automated execution via the Selenium Grid architecture

CI/CD with Jenkins

• Integration of test cases in CI/CD processes for fully automated and time- or event-driven test execution
• Integration of your Selenium tests in a Jenkins pipeline and corresponding customization options
• Integration directly via the Jenkins web interface or alternatively creation via a pipeline script
• Script management in the source code management repository

Results reporting

• Extension of the basic reporting of TestNG according to your requirements
• Familiarization with and practical creation of extent reports
