In our Success Story, we shed light on a successful project with Uelzener Versicherungen. Together with the customer's team, we realised the setup of a test automation landscape.
In 2017, Uelzener Versicherungen decided to renew their internal policy management system with a software solution developed in Java, in order to leverage comprehensive customisation options. We, proficom GmbH, were commissioned to introduce test automation and to set up a framework and infrastructure in order to reduce manual testing effort.
Initially, manual tests for insurance policies were revised and described in detail. Technologically, the system is based on JavaFX, which is why test automation was implemented in Java using Maven and Jenkins. The proprietary Oryon framework was used for this. Variable data for policy attachments were stored in a MySQL database and integrated into test classes. A Docker container enabled the parallel execution of tests on multiple build agents, allowing approximately 100 test cases to be run per hour.
Additionally, a document review mechanism was developed to detect discrepancies in contract-related documents. Automation was extended to web portals using Selenium. Over five years, more than 2080 test cases were automated, significantly increasing efficiency and saving three weeks of manual testing effort per test phase.
